In Conversation with Mandy Stewart, Nurseplus Care at home
Please provide a brief overview of your business or what you do within the company.
At Nurseplus Care at home, we provide high-quality, person-centred care to individuals in the comfort of their own homes. Our services range from short daily visits to full-time live-in care, supporting people of all ages, including older adults, individuals with complex medical conditions, and younger people living with disabilities. We pride ourselves on delivering care that is not only clinically sound but also compassionate and tailored to each person’s unique needs and circumstances. With branches across the UK, our teams work closely with individuals and their families to ensure they feel safe, supported, and empowered to live as independently as possible.
As Operations Director, my role is to oversee the strategic delivery and operational performance of our services across the country. I focus on ensuring that the care we provide is consistent, regulated to the highest standards, and aligned with the evolving needs of our clients. I also work closely with our branch teams to support workforce development, implement new initiatives, and uphold the values that define Nurseplus Care at home: compassion, respect, and quality.
What would you attribute as the main reason for your success?
Our success is rooted in the excellent standard of care we deliver, the personalised approach we take with every individual and the unwavering dedication of our care teams. We understand that no two people are the same, which is why we work closely with clients and their families to build bespoke care plans that truly reflect their needs, preferences, and lifestyles. Our branch teams communicate exceptionally well, not just with one another but with the people we support, ensuring that care is consistent, compassionate and responsive at all times. This people-first approach has built lasting trust and outstanding outcomes across the country.
What has been the biggest challenge you have overcome?
One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced has been responding to the changing needs of individuals and families in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people became more reliant on home-based care services during this time, and we saw a significant shift in expectations around safety, flexibility and support. Our teams had to rapidly adapt to more complex health conditions, increased isolation among vulnerable people and heightened anxieties from families. Through it all, we remained agile, resilient and focused, introducing new technologies, evolving our training and ensuring our care was not only safe but deeply reassuring and human.
What do you think made you stand out as a winner in the awards? Tell us about the specific project or facet of your business you believe earned you this award win.
We believe our outstanding care team and the high standard of service we provide were key to standing out as a winner. At Nurseplus Care at home, we don’t just provide nursing care, we provide support that empowers people to live full and meaningful lives. Our carers are trained to a very high level, with many undertaking additional clinical or condition-specific training to meet individual needs. But more importantly, they’re chosen for their values: kindness, patience and commitment. This combination of skill and compassion underpins everything we do and ensures that every client receives care that is not only safe and professional but also deeply personal.
What is the next big step for you?
Our next step is to continue expanding our services across the UK so we can support even more people to live comfortably and independently at home. We are investing in new branch locations, recruiting more talented care professionals and strengthening our specialist offerings, including live-in care, dementia care, and support for younger people with complex needs. Above all, our focus remains on delivering the best care possible, every day, to every person we support.
Would you recommend Business Awards UK to other businesses? If so, why?
Absolutely, we would highly recommend Business Awards UK to other organisations. The process was straightforward and professional, and it gave us the opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our incredible team. It’s a meaningful way to recognise and showcase the impact your business is making, and we’re proud to have taken part.
